The Department of Justice and Community Safety’s Aboriginal Employment and Career Strategy, strongly encourages and supports a broad range of career pathway opportunities into the department.

The Aboriginal Secondary School Scholarship is committed to supporting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (Aboriginal) Secondary School/VCAL students to apply for financial assistance to successful applicants in assisting the completion of their Year 11 or Year 12 studies successfully. 

The scholarship will award a $1,000 once off monetary assistance to five successful candidates who are planning on completing either Year 11 or Year 12 at a Victorian government school. The scholarship recognises students who demonstrate a potential to succeed in their chosen pathway.

To be eligible for consideration of the scholarship, students must:

• Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.

• Currently planning to or undertaking Year 11 and Year 12 at a Victorian government school.
