Today on ANZAC Day we want to acknowledge and commemorate all who have served in the Australian armed forces alongside our New Zealand allies, and in particular Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander servicemen and women. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have served in large numbers in every conflict since Australia’s Federation, with some signing up prior to this. These men and women have made an immense contribution and played an essential and often critical role in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping endeavors, including the ultimate sacrifice of all.
