Koorie Open Door Education (KODE)
Purpose:
The KODE addresses the challenge by reviewing mainstream
curriculum content and school processes and structures according
to Koorie needs. Fundamentally it offers a model that addresses
the four key issues related to Koorie Education in Victorian schools
today:
- Retention of Koorie students from early childhood through 12
years of schooling
- Participation of parents in decision making about policy, programs
and resource allocation, and their childrens learning
- Curriculum reform
- Access to training and higher education beyond school
