Purpose of the Research
VAEAI is highly focussed on working in partnership with organisations
both government and private sector, which seek to provide growth
in the participation rates of Koories within the employment and
education sectors.
In particular, VAEAI has a strong commitment to fostering positive
working relationships with organisations and networks, which provide
supportive learning environments that include strategies and policies
which embrace appropriate Koorie cultural protocols and reinforce
Koorie identity.
Currently there is insufficient research available in Victoria
and nationally which seeks to identify and analyse the participation
rates of Aboriginal people in the education sector and the impact
this has on the overall employment rates. Given this, the purpose
of this research is to provide an overview of the participation
rates of Koories aged between 15-65 years in secondary and tertiary
education, TAFE programs and various sectors of the workforce.
